As part of our student recruitment efforts, I was involved today in a lab tour conducted by our Environmental Health Sciences program. I briefly met and talked to around 20 American Indian high school students about occupational health, gave a lab demo of a few industrial hygiene instruments (e.g. sound level meter, heat stress monitor), and showed them some research experimental setups in the lab. These students are part of the “Safeguarding our Natural and Tribal Heritage Youth Program” (SONTH).
