2023-2024 Scholar-Teacher Award

I am honored to be selected to receive the 2023/2024 Scholar-Teacher Award for the College of Health and Human Performance. The purpose of the annual Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affair’s Scholar-Teacher Awards is to recognize faculty members who effectively integrate research and/or creative activity with their teaching roles in such a way that benefits both their students and their field. Recipients of these awards were selected not only for excelling in research, teaching and practice, but also for blending these key faculty roles in such a way that enables them to inform one another and model this integration for students and colleagues.

All the Scholar-Teachers were recognized during the spring Teaching Awards Ceremony tonight when posters of award recipients were on display. As a scholar-teacher, I was awarded $1,000 in operating dollars to be used for professional travel, support of integration of research/creative activity and teaching (supplies, books, etc.), and for other professional purposes. Award recipients will also be given the opportunity to join next year’s 2024/2025 Scholar Teacher Series to present our own work.
